The Spot Studio Music Foundation Mission
The Spot Studio Music Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to support musicians, music education, music production, and musical performance in Northwest Indiana. The Foundation is guided by a volunteer Board of Directors and accepts tax-deductible donations in service of its mission.
The Foundation’s main activity at this time is a scholarship program to support young musicians and music producers in getting access to music instruction, production training, instruments, and related software. The scholarship is intended to support young musicians in the Northwest Indiana region who are serious about pursuing music instruction and/or production, and who would otherwise have a difficult time affording music lessons, training, production-related software, and the purchase or rental of musical instruments.
The scholarships, which are awarded annually, are for up to $1,000. The number of scholarships each year will be determined by the funds available through donations to the Foundation. The Foundation will invite community members to nominate deserving young musicians/producers for the scholarship. Applications will be considered by a Scholarship Committee of the Foundation’s Board of Directors. Upon being selected for a scholarship award, the youth musician/producer will need to designate where the funds should be paid to support music lessons, training, software or instrument purchase or rental; the scholarship funds will then be paid directly to the instructors or supplier on behalf of the recipient.
In awarding scholarships, the Foundation will consider the diversity of the scholarship pool including instrument of choice, production interests, place of residence, school attended, instructor or training program, etc., with the goal of supporting a wide array of musicians and music producers across the Northwest Indiana region.
